My Individual Instructional Coaching Mission IICM Following the November 9-11, 2010 CFF Bootcamp aka "The Future is Now"
My goals as instructional coach: achievable in short timeline left
To support PBL at Clearfield High School through encouragement of an individual or team of students competing in The Pa Computer Fair and overcoming barriers to their participation (identifyin source for funding sub for sponsoring teacher, funding travel expenses, board approval when required)
To fulfill the promise of my district’s involvement in the PIIC initiative
To continue to facilitate two district teams’ (CMS, CHS) and one external team the Clearfield County Career and Technology Center’s attendance at PLN1 to develop core understandings and common language to improve instruction across disciplines
To increase communication regarding instruction and learning with our local career and technology school to facilitate multiple perspectives on low PSSA scores problem and possible solutions
To promote collaborative problem solving among departments and schools (CMS, CHS and CCCTC) to increase student engagement in learning and improve test outcomes
To identify the nexus of current initiatives aimed at improving instruction and learning to maximize and amplify the impact of each. (Lead to Learn, Reader Apprenticeship and Penn Literacy Network).
To engage a collaborative community in this and coach/titleI wiki
Anticipated challenges and strategies to overcome those challenges are listed.
Abbreviated timeline for CFF coaching Clearfield’s current funding ends Jan 17
Launch developed coaching wiki and continue monitoring of the listserve Benefit from CFF’s opportunities to build capacity in each school librarian offers some sustainability of efforts
Culture of divisiveness
Facilitate positive communications by building common language and promoting sharing of perspectives of departments, seasoned and new educators, CHS & CCCTC, admin and staff,
Transition of District Leadership
Encourage tech dept, principal and supt use of their CFF listserve, Align the goals of the new supt w/ CFF goals of coaching and 21st century learning
Inadequate access to technology (school and home)
Encourage showcasing of student projects to encourage funding of technology
Transition of State Leadership likely resultant reduction in school funding
Sustain what we’ve gained so far by empowering others to be leaders and advocates
When I am successful in our efforts to help teachers prepare students as future citizens of the world our schools would begin to resemble what has been promoted by . . .
